April’s Pledge of the Month isn’t actually from a session delivered by Speak Carbon. This pledge comes from a group of students from Beaumont School in St Albans, where they’ve just completed Carbon Literacy training with their teacher Trudie Gorham.
To deliver these sessions, Trudie used Speak Carbon’s accredited Carbon Literacy for 11-18 year olds course, which we offer for free to schools looking to deliver Carbon Literacy to their students. Get in touch to find out more.
I love this pledge because it brings students together to drive positive change in their school. As well as collaborating with and engaging school staff, this pledge gives the students the opportunity to increase awareness around climate change amongst their peers and from there, in the wider school community as well.
When we first become engage in climate and social action, we don’t have to immediately make huge, seismic changes. We just need to do something. A nature-based, food-focused group project is the perfect place to start.
