In late 2021, Speak Carbon began working with global law firm DLA Piper to develop a bespoke Carbon Literacy training programme.
Since then we have developed and delivered projects for six different firms, including our ongoing work with Osborne Clarke and Foot Anstey, with projects with several more firms in the pipeline.

We love working with law firms for several reasons. The biggest is that there is such huge potential for lawyers to talk to their clients about the climate crisis, how it’s likely to impact their business in future, and what they can be doing to reduce emissions.
In 2023, The Law Society published guidance on the impact of climate change on solicitors. This guidance has opened up conversations on how fee earners can best support their clients around climate change, and shows the appetite for these complex conversations within the sector.
It’s these complex conversations that we love to have in the room with our participants. Holding space for discussions on where and how climate change is relevant to the work done within the law sector, emboldens those attending our courses to continue these discussions with their clients, suppliers and other stakeholders.
In October 2026, we will be attending the London Law Expo to build relationships with other law firms and reconnect with those we already know.
