August’s Pledge of the Month is from Network Rail Eastern, from a session we delivered in June.
The pledge stood out to me because it’s a great reminder that there are things we can do to make our work more sustainable, even if we don’t know it. When planning projects, decisions can often be made that create higher-carbon outcomes, because there isn’t the budget available to opt for a lower-carbon approach.
More and more though, large organisations do have separate funding pots to support sustainable, low emissions projects. Ensuring the relevant teams know about available funding and how to apply, is key to ensuring as many projects as possible are low carbon.
