November’s Pledge of the Month is from our ongoing work with City & Guilds. We’ve been working with City & Guilds since 2022 and in that time we’ve trained a huge range of folks from across the organisation, including participants based in the UK, the middle east and even Australia.
One of our key aims when delivering work-based training, is to help participants answer the question ‘how is my job a climate job?’. In this pledge, Jo takes this idea to the next level, as she plans to integrate this climate-focused thinking not only into her work, but into the qualifications she’s developing. This has the potential to be truly transformative for those studying these courses, and for the careers they go into as a result.
Having written a bespoke course for City & Guilds at the start of the project, we’ve since developed and adapted the materials in line with our new delivery model – Learning and Speaking Carbon. Using the Carbon Literacy Project’s framework, this model divides our courses into Learning Carbon – focusing on the science and impacts of climate and Speaking Carbon – using the language of carbon & climate to create action.
